According to a statement from his family, Kwach passed away on the evening of April 28, 2025, while receiving treatment for meningitis.

The media fraternity is once again in mourning following the passing of seasoned radio personality Edward Carey Kwach, affectionately known as "Kwach."

According to a statement from his family, Kwach passed away on the evening of April 28, 2025, while receiving treatment for meningitis.

"It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of our beloved son and brother, Carey, that occurred last night, 28th April 2025, while receiving treatment for meningitis," the family said.

Earlier this month, Kwach had been admitted to Coptic Hospital in critical condition.

Following his hospitalization, an appeal for blood donations was made, urging well-wishers to come forward to help stabilize his condition.

Doctors had requested about four pints of blood to help improve his iron and hemoglobin levels.

Despite the overwhelming support from friends, fans, and colleagues, Kwach's condition worsened, leading to his untimely death.

Kwach, widely celebrated for his deep understanding of music and his warm on-air personality, had built a strong bond with listeners across the country.

His family described him as a joyful and comforting presence whose voice became a familiar companion to many homes.

"His voice became a familiar and trusted companion to many across the country, who tuned in not just for the music but for the warmth and humor he brought to his broadcasts," the family statement added.

His passing comes at a time when the media industry is still grieving other recent losses.

Last month, journalists Nick Mudimba and Fredrick Parsayo also passed away in tragic circumstances, leaving their colleagues and the nation at large in shock.

Mudimba, a respected journalist who had worked with CGTN, KTN, Radio Africa, and Switch TV, collapsed at his home in Syokimau, Machakos County, on a Sunday evening and later passed away.

Just days later, Fredrick Parsayo was found dead at his home in Kinoo, Kikuyu.

Authorities reported the matter to Kinoo Police Station, and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding his death.

Parsayo’s body was moved to St. Teresa Mortuary, where a post-mortem examination is planned.

The loss of Kwach, coming so soon after these tragedies, has left Kenya’s media industry reeling from grief.

"The support we have received from everyone during Carey's illness has been overwhelming. We deeply appreciate the generosity of those who donated blood, visited, and held him in their thoughts and prayers," the Kwach family shared.

Funeral and memorial service arrangements for Edward Carey Kwach will be announced in the coming days as the family continues to come to terms with this painful loss.
